1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions (Terms) apply if you’ve chosen, and we’ve agreed to supply you, on our 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan.

These Terms are supplemental to, and do not replace, our Core Energy Supply Terms and Conditions (Core Terms) found at ovoenergy.com/terms and our Greener Electricity Terms found at ovoenergy.com/terms/greener-electricity

Your energy supply for 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity is provided by OVO Electricity Limited (when we’re selling you electricity) and OVO Gas Limited (when we’re selling you gas). Our address is 1 Rivergate, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6ED. These are the companies that supply energy to your property.

Your energy supply is covered by these Terms and the Core Terms.

Your Greener Electricity is covered by the terms and conditions contained in your Greener Electricity Terms.

In the event of any conflict between these Terms, the Core Terms or Greener Electricity Terms, these Terms will take precedence. Any terms defined in the Core Terms will have the same meaning when used in these Terms.

1.1 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity includes:

• our 1 Year Fixed fixed energy plan (dual fuel or electricity only)
• 12 months of our Greener Electricity upgrade at a discounted rate

1.2 Your 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan includes:

a) a 1 year fixed rate energy supply and

b) our Greener Electricity upgrade that provides 100% renewable electricity backed by Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with UK-based generators. Plus a fixed contribution each year to support new renewable generators in the UK. For more information on how we do this see section 6 of our Greener Terms and our PPA Page.

1.3 With your 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan, the price you pay for the supply of your electricity and/or gas will be fixed for a period of 12 months commencing on your Plan Start Date. Your Plan Start Date will be the date that you apply to be supplied by us on the 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan or the date that your electricity and/or gas supply transfers to the 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan from your existing OVO energy plan. We’ll notify you of this date in your welcome or renewal letter. 

1.4 Greener Electricity will be added to your account from your Plan Start Date. The cost for Greener Electricity will be added to your daily electricity standing charge, details of the cost will be included in your welcome or renewal letter. Please see section 4 below (Payment) for further details.

2.1 The 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan is available to new and existing OVO Energy customers. In order to be eligible for the plan you must also meet and continue to meet the below eligibility requirements (Eligibility Criteria):

• You are a dual fuel or electricity only customer
• You pay your bills by monthly Direct Debit;
• You have a standard meter, smart meter or Economy 7 meter. If you have any other meter type, you won’t be eligible for this plan. This plan is not available to pay as you go customers;
• You receive your account information by email (unless we’ve agreed otherwise with you)

2.2 If you currently have our Greener Energy or Greener Electricity upgrade, you’ll still be eligible to sign up to 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity. We’ll ensure the product benefits are applied to your new fixed plan and any monthly payments for the previous upgrade are stopped.

By signing up to this plan, you’re agreeing to have a smart meter fitted (if you don’t already have one). We’ll contact you to arrange a suitable installation date for a smart meter to be installed in your property.

4.1 Direct Debit instructions will be set up for your energy supply. If you stop paying by Direct Debit, you’ll no longer be eligible for this plan

4.2 While you’re on 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity the cost of Greener Electricity will be included in your daily electricity standing charge (you’ll see a separate line for Greener Electricity on your energy bill at £0 while you’re on the plan). A standing charge is a fixed daily amount you have to pay for energy, no matter how much you use.

5.1 Your Plan will end 12 months after your Plan Start Date (Fixed Plan End Date). From this date, unless you have asked us to put you on a new energy plan:

• We’ll automatically transfer you to the cheapest variable energy plan available for your meter type, estimated annual consumption and payment method;
• You might pay higher unit prices and standing charges on a variable energy plan and these could change at any time

5.2 We’ll write to you no later than 30 days before your Fixed Plan End Date to remind you of this and advise you of our cheapest plan at this time based on your estimated annual consumption and your chosen payment method.

5.3 If, within 20 working days of the end of your fixed energy plan, you: 

• decide to leave us and your new supplier notifies us that you’re switching and that switch takes place within a reasonable period; or 
• you enter into a new energy plan with us 

then we’ll keep your charges the same until you switch to your new supplier or start your new energy plan.

6.1 If you continue to receive an energy supply from OVO after your 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan ends and you haven’t cancelled Greener Electricity via your account, you’ll continue to receive Greener Electricity at the then current price. This will be detailed in the communication we send you at least 14 days before the end of your 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan.

6.2 If you move your energy supply away from OVO, Greener Electricity will automatically be cancelled.

6.3 If you cancel Greener Electricity prior to the Fixed Plan End Date of your 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan, your Greener Electricity will not be renewed after the Fixed Plan End Date.

Your energy plan

If you joined OVO 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity before 4 September 2024

7.1 If you change your supplier or plan for electricity or gas, or both, before the Fixed End Date, we may apply an exit fee of £75 for each fuel (Early Exit Fee). See clause 10.4 of the Core Terms for more information on when this Early Exit Fee may be charged.

If you joined OVO 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity on or after 4 September 2024

7.2 If you change your supplier or plan for electricity or gas, or both, before the Fixed End Date, we may apply an exit fee of £50 for each fuel (Early Exit Fee). See clause 10.4 of the Core Terms for more information on when this Early Exit Fee may be charged.

7.3 You agree to pay any such Early Exit Fee and agree to us taking this fee by Direct Debit.

7.4 If you continue to receive an energy supply from us after your 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan ends and you haven’t cancelled Greener Electricity, you’ll continue to receive Greener Electricity at the then current price. This will be detailed in the communication we send you before your Fixed Plan End Date.

Greener Electricity 

7.5 If you cancel Greener Electricity before the Fixed Plan End Date, your Greener Electricity will not be renewed after the Fixed Plan End Date. 

7.6 If you cancel Greener Electricity but remain on the 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan, the cost of Greener Electricity will continue to be included in your electricity standing charge. The Greener Electricity product will no longer show in your online account but we’ll continue to provide you with the benefits as described in section 1.2.

Your Greener Electricity will not be renewed after the Fixed Plan End Date.

8.1 If you move home, your 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan, including Greener Electricity, will end – even if you continue to be an OVO customer at your new property.

8.2 If we supply the property, you’ll be put on our standard variable plan available for your meter type and payment method until you select a new plan or supplier. 

8.3 If we don’t supply your new property, you’ll be on whichever plan the supplier of that property has in place.

We can terminate your 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan with immediate effect if you are in breach of these Terms, the Core Terms or the Greener Terms or otherwise as we may have the right to do so under these Terms or the Core Terms. We can also terminate your 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan if you no longer meet any of the Eligibility Criteria set out above, including, without limitation, if you no longer pay by Direct Debit.

10.1 OVO’s 1 Year Fixed energy plan and Greener Electricity are available separately. Greener Electricity can be added to any OVO pay monthly energy plan as long as you meet the eligibility requirements as set out in the Greener Electricity Terms.

10.2 This plan is subject to availability. We reserve the right to refuse to accept customers onto the plan at our sole discretion.

10.3 We reserve the right to make changes to these Terms and the 1 Year Fixed + Greener Electricity plan at any time. If we make any changes which are to your detriment we will give you reasonable notice so that you can take action to avoid the change.

10.4 These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales if your property is in England or Wales, and the laws of Scotland if your property is in Scotland.
