Pay As You GoPayments and topping up

Topping up your smart Pay As You Go meter

There are 4 ways to top up your smart Pay As You Go meter(s). Remember, if you have an electricity and gas smart meter, you’ll need to add credit to them separately.

Option 1: in the OVO Energy Top-up app

You can top up anytime using your smartphone. Just download the OVO Energy Top-up app from the Apple App Store or Google Play

To use the app, you’ll need your top-up card number(s) ready. That’s the 19-digit number found on the electricity and/or gas card(s) that we sent you.

Features of the app:

  • Securely store top-up card number(s) and payment details for faster top-ups

  • Top up any amount between £1 and £200

  • Set up recurring payments

  • Track all top-ups and view receipts

  • Store a top-up barcode to use in-store

Option 2: in person

You can also top up at any PayPoint, Payzone shop, or Post Office. Bring your top-up card(s) or the barcode(s) saved in your OVO Energy Top-up app to pay over the counter.

Option 3: top up online

You can also top up online with a payment card or bank details.

Option 4: over the phone

You can also top up over the phone. Just give us a call on 0330 175 9669 and select option “1”.

After you’ve topped up

It might take up to 40 minutes for the credit to show on your meter. If the signal in your home is ever too low to pick up your credit, you can add the credit yourself. You’ll need the 20-digit Unique Transaction Reference Number (UTRN), also known as the “VEND” code, found on your payment receipt. For instructions, see our step-by-step video guides and find your meter type.
