Setting up your Direct Debit in our app

It’s quick and easy to set up a Direct Debit:

  1. On the ‘Home’ screen you’ll see a prompt to set up a monthly payment. If you don’t get a prompt, select ‘Account’.

  2. Scroll down to ‘My charges and payments’

  3. Hit ‘Set up a Direct Debit’. We’ll show your recommended monthly amount, and how we worked it out, before you go ahead.

You can choose any date in the month from the 1st to the 28th for us to collect your payment. Enter all your details - you’ll have a chance to make sure everything’s ok before you confirm.

Once your Direct Debit is set, you can easily increase the payment - use our Direct Debit calculator to see how changing it can impact your balance.

Top tip If you’re on our variable plan and choose to pay by Direct Debit, you get lower energy rates. Because it costs us less to manage your account this way.

Setting your Direct Debit date

Depending on how you join us, you might be able to pick any day between the 1st and the 28th of each month when you set your Direct Debit, or right after you have access to your account. 

If your start date is the 29th, we’ll set it for the 1st. But you can always change that later in your account, under ‘Payments’.

  1. Go to Payments

  2. Scroll to ‘My payment details’

  3. Tap on ‘Change’ next to ‘Direct Debit amount’.

  4. Pick your new date on the next screen

It takes us 6 days to tell your bank about this change. If your new Direct Debit date falls within 6 days of your current one, we’ll take this month’s payment on the old date and change it for the next.

Where to find recommended Direct Debit amount

To see your recommended Direct Debit amount in the app:

  1. Go to Payments

  2. Scroll down to ‘My payment details’

  3. Tap on ‘Change’ next to ‘My Direct Debit amount’

  4. Here’ll you find a recommended amount based on our calculations

How to change your Direct Debit amount

  1. Go to Payments

  2. Scroll to ‘Change Direct Debit amount’.

  3. Here you’ll find a recommended amount based on our calculations.

  4. You can either accept this amount or type a new amount in the payment box and hit ‘Choose Direct Debit amount’

  5. If you enter your amount that is lower than the one we’ve recommended, you’ll need to confirm the change in a pop-up box.

You should then see a confirmation message telling you that your Direct Debit has been updated.
