With Heat Pump Plus, we add credit to your energy account.
This is how you get your savings. You'll pay the lower rate of 15p per kWh for the electricity your heat pump uses – and your standard electricity rate for the rest of your home. First, we'll charge all of your electricity use at the rate in your energy plan. Then, once we know how much electricity was used by the heat pump, we'll credit back the difference. You’ll get this credit in the first 7 working days of the following month.

Frequently asked questions
You must be a current OVO customer with a heat pump installed by Heat Geek through OVO. You’ll also need a working internet connection. Plus, you must have a smart meter that is sending half-hourly readings to OVO.
You can get Heat Pump Plus on any plan, as long as you’re an OVO customer.
We’re committed to offering great value for heat pump customers. But our products may change in response to the energy market – or as we learn more about what our customers need and how they're using their heat pumps. Right now, there’s no planned end date for Heat Pump Plus. But we’ll let you know in advance if the rate or add-on changes, and we’ll tell you what your options are. You can find out more information in our T&Cs.
We apply credit for Heat Pump Plus to your account in the first 7 working days of each month. It will also appear on your monthly OVO bill under the heading "Heat Pump Plus Credit". The credit shown on your bill will be for the electricity you’ve used for your heat pump in the previous month.
With Heat Pump Plus, all electricity you use will first be charged at the normal unit rate you pay on your OVO plan. At the end of the month, we work out how much energy you’ve used to power your heat pump. We’ll use this info to credit your energy account in the first 7 working days of the following month. This means your electricity rate to power your heat pump reflects the 15p per kWh rate for Heat Pump Plus.
For example:
- The Heat Pump Plus rate is 15p per kWh. And let’s say your standard electricity rate is 28p per kWh.
- We’ll credit you 13p (the difference between the Heat Pump Plus rate and your standard electricity rate) for each kWh you’ve used to power your heat pump.
- And that means, if you use 300kWh powering your heat pump, you’ll get £39 in credit back on your bill.
There are currently no restrictions on customers with Charge Anytime, OVO solar or battery SEG.

¹ Savings of £150 are based on the following comparison: a gas boiler running at 90% efficiency (as per the national average for A-rated boilers) with an annual consumption of 11,500 kWh at 5.21p/kWh, and 77% of consumption used for heating and hot water, versus an air source heat pump with a Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (or efficiency rating) of 4 and an annual consumption of 1,992 kWh at 15p/kWh with the Heat Pump Plus add-on.
