Our Greener Electricity upgrade gives you 100% renewable electricity, backed up by Power Purchase Agreements (also known as PPAs). This is the most transparent way for us to sell renewable power.
We get 100% renewable electricity from traceable sources across the UK. For every unit of energy you use, we match it by buying a unit of energy from a renewable source.
The most common renewable sources in the UK are wind, solar and hydroelectric. You can find up-to-date information on how we buy renewable electricity here.
Choosing greener electricity means we can rely on more renewable generators in the UK. This leads to more green power, which is better for you and the planet.
1 The unit rate and standing charge are fixed. The amount you pay will vary, depending on how much energy you use.
2 The £20 goes towards buying ”subsidy-free” Power Purchase Agreements (an amount of energy from new UK renewable generators). A power purchase agreement (PPA) is a contractual agreement between energy buyers and sellers. They come together and agree to buy and sell an amount of energy that’s generated from a renewable source. Without our support, these projects might not get off the ground or get subsidies. Our commitment to buying power from them once they’re set up means they’re more likely to get other funding too.
